Executive Chef - Command Performance

Maya has been in the culinary field for 25 years working in both high-end restaurants and catering companies. Maya graduated at the top of her class from Western Culinary Institute in Portland and soon after completing culinary school moved to Hawaii to further expand her culinary education. During her time in Hawaii she worked with Island celebrity chef Peter Merriman before taking over as Executive Chef for Bamboo Restaurant, specializing in fine Pacific Rim cuisine. During her tenure, Bamboo was voted Best Restaurant on the Big Island and was featured in several magazines and newspapers, including Gourmet, Bon Appetite, Sunset, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times and The Boston Globe.
Wanting to take on new experiences, Maya moved to Southern California and became the Executive Chef for Command Performance.  “Working for Command has been wonderful. I believe I learn something new from each event, whether it is a 200 person private wedding or a public event for 1300 people” Maya says, however, her biggest personal accomplishment has been the privilege to prepare meals for Former First Lady Nancy Reagan and her distinguished guests while at the Reagan Library.  Going forward Maya continues to develop innovative items and menus for Command Performance and is always looking for a new challenge.
